JRock

This term we got to select how we wanted to learn about Sustainability. Some children chose an ICT link, others a geocaching link and then a dance and drama link through J-Rock.

We had such a fabulous term practicing and getting ready for our big J-Rock performance at the ASB Theatre in Aotea Square.

We had many days of practicing and running through our dances and the correct timings at school and then it was a few dress rehearsals for the rest of the school to see our learning.

We were ready. The big day had finally arrived. We had an early morning start to all meet at Aotea Square, to prepare and get ready for our 45 minute practice slot on stage at the theatre. Seeing the lights and finally getting to be on the big stage was so exciting and we couldn’t wait for our time to come to find out what time we would be preforming later that night.

There were many meetings throughout the day, which would turn into big dance parties!

Mrs Bickley did a great job of having a dance off with the other teachers to get us our performance time for the second half of the show.

We couldn’t wait to get ready! Dinner couldn’t come soon enough and the pizzas were eaten very fast in anticipation for us to start getting ready.

Finally it was time for make-up to be put on, hair to be done and costumes to start going on.

Our time came and we had such a blast preforming on stage and showing our parents and audience our learning of sustainability for the term.  

It was such a great experience and one that both the teachers and children involved, hope that they get to be a part of again.
